Who should attend the Course

This 5-Day hands-on intensive course is intended to help project managers understand the concepts of C4SD and learn to use a tool to systematically plan effective C4SD strategic interventions through a step-by-step process.

Emphasis will be on how cultural, social, economic and political factors influence individual and groups’ choices and behaviors. Throughout the course, participants will learn how to analyze behavioral problems, set communication indicators that are measurable, design implementation strategies, and learn how to monitor and evaluate results-oriented C4SD projects.

The course consists of lectures / presentations / practical assignments and even the possibility of a "field trip" to local projects to observe hands-on cases (subject to time available), as well as experience-sharing among participants and special invited speakers.

Objectives

By the end of the training course, participants will:

  • understand the important role that social communication plays in the successful implementation of their projects;
  • be able to describe the different components of Communication for Social Development (C4SD);
  • be able to identify substantial elements of the cultural, social, political and economic factors underlying individual and group behavior change;
  • be able to analyze the context, target groups and their social environments as well as the target groups' use of various types of communication media including social media;
  • be able to plan Communication for Social Development / Behavior Change Communication (C4SD/BCC) strategic interventions.
